24″ iMac sound woes, aka “Why we should try the obvious”
The first thing I found wrong with using Windows under Boot Camp with my iMac was the horrendous sound. I updated the sound drivers from the Boot Camp install disc and from the supplier’s website. Neither of those produced decent sound, so I played with the mixer settings and got something almost sort-of kind-of not terrible.
Then one day I had to use headphones, so I would not disturb my wife, and like –insert dramatic text snippet here– the world of quality sound was given to me. I guess it goes to show that the obvious should be tried first!
